Job summary

Johnson Controls Navy Systems in Norfolk is seeking a Journeyman HVAC Chiller Mechanic to maintain and service chilled water plants, refrigeration systems, and related equipment for U.S. Navy and Coast Guard vessels.

The role requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and the ability to work within a union environment. You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on large HVAC systems, using a range of tools and instruments, supporting critical mission systems in

Qualifications

5+ years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience with mechanical troubleshooting and service experience.
Valid driver’s license.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
US Citizens with the ability to obtain government clearances and badges (background/credit check).
Mechanical Journeyman license.

Responsibilities

Maintenance and service of Chilled Water Air Conditioning Plants, Refrigeration Systems and related equipment for Navy vessels.
Inspect, diagnose, service and repair HVAC equipment and systems.
Troubleshoot HVAC mechanical problems and some electrical/controls issues.
Respond to service and warranty calls.
Perform preventive maintenance: belts, oiling, greasing, cleaning.
Perform non-destructive tests and sample collection for analysis.
