Job summary

Johnson Controls Navy Systems in Norfolk seeks a Journeyman HVAC Chiller Mechanic to service and repair large shipboard HVAC/R systems for the US Navy and Coast Guard. You will work in a state-of-the-art rebuild shop, supporting field service teams and ensuring equipment reliability under demanding conditions.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain government clearances.

Qualifications

5+ years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience with troubleshooting and service.
Valid driver’s license required.
US Citizen able to obtain government clearances and badges.
Mechanical Journeyman license.

Responsibilities

Maintain and service chilled water air conditioning plants, refrigeration systems, and related equipment for Navy/Coast Guard vessels.
Complete assigned maintenance, inspection, diagnosis, repair, and preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment.
Troubleshoot HVAC mechanical problems and some electrical/controls issues.
Respond to service and warranty calls.
Inspect, diagnose, service, and repair mechanical systems with tools and instruments.
Perform belt adjustments, lubrication, and cleaning as part of preventive maintenance.
Collect and deliver samples for non-destructive testing.
