Job summary

Johnson Controls Navy Systems in Norfolk seeks an HVAC Chiller Mechanic to join our Federal Systems team. You will maintain and service chilled water plants and related HVAC systems aboard Navy and Coast Guard vessels, ensuring operation under demanding conditions.

The role requires 5+ years of HVAC experience, a valid driver's license, and eligibility for government clearances. This is a union position with on-site work at the Norfolk facility, offering opportunities to work with OEM expertise.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial/industrial HVAC experience with troubleshooting.
• Valid driver's license.
• US citizen eligible for government security clearances.
• Mechanical Journeyman license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and service chilled water HVAC plants, systems, and related equipment for Navy/Coast Guard vessels.
• Complete assigned maintenance and service duties; inspect, diagnose, service, repair and perform preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC mechanical problems, plus some electrical and controls issues.
• Respond to service and warranty calls.
• Inspect, diagnose, service and repair mechanical systems using various tools.
• Perform preventive maintenance including belt adjustments, oiling, greasing, cleaning.
• Perform non-destructive tests; collect and deliver samples for analysis.
