The State of South Carolina operates Marine Resources Research Department vessels, Palmetto and Lady Lillian, performing coastal and offshore research missions. This role focuses on operating main diesel engines, generators and deck systems while ensuring crew safety.

Candidate must have a high school diploma and two years of related experience, or equivalent; extensive sea-going exposure and diesel/generator knowledge are essential.

Formación

• High school diploma and two (2) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
• Extensive sea-going experience and knowledge of diesel engines, shipboard operations and associated gear.

Responsabilidades

• Operating main engines, generators, pumps and motors, A/C units and hydraulic systems while underway.
• Performing preventive maintenance to keep systems on line and replace parts as needed.
• Completing inspections and troubleshooting to maintain smooth operation.
• Maintaining vessel equipment and deck gear; inspecting sampling gear for proper function.
• Operating heavy deck gear and supervising safe operation of winches and sampling equipment.
