The State of South Carolina's Department of Transportation seeks a skilled mechanic to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy diesel-powered equipment. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, welding, and executing field service calls as needed.

Applicants must have 1.5 years of related experience or an approved equivalence; a valid driver's license is required and a Class A CDL must be obtained within six months of placement.

Qualificações

• 1.5 years of related work experience or equivalent.
• High school Automotive/Diesel education may substitute for six months of related experience.
• Must obtain a Class A CDL within six months of placement.

Responsabilidades

• Perform skilled mechanical repairs to electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Diagnose mechanical failures using diagnostic equipment.
• Repair diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic motors, pumps, cylinders on diesel-powered equipment.
• Weld and fabricate as needed; make modifications to improve production.
• Maintain shop safety and proper storage/disposal of hazardous waste and materials.
