Job summary

Continental Tide Defense Systems, Inc. in Norfolk, VA is seeking an experienced Welder II to join our Fleet Services Group, performing ship repair, modernization and Alteration Installation Team projects aboard vessels.

The successful candidate will read blueprints, interpret specifications, choose welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW) and fabricate/install fixtures while mentoring others and maintaining NAVSEA/ABS/AWS standards; travel up to 75% and the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance is

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–10 years of direct ship repair HM&E experience.
• Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings and NAVSEA specs.
• Must be able to obtain SECRET clearance and base access.

Responsibilities

• Join, fabricate, and repair metal using established welding techniques.
• Repair and install pipes, structures and fittings for shipboard systems.
• Inspect welds for NAVSEA, ABS and AWS compliance; mentor junior welders.
• Read blueprints and install fixtures for welding processes.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and maintain a clean work area.
