Job summary

Continental Tide Defense Systems, Inc. in Norfolk, VA seeks a qualified Shipfitter III to join our Fleet Services Group. You will perform ship repair, modernization, and Alteration Installation Team projects with a focus on structural fitting and blueprint interpretation.

The role requires a strong background in shipyard fabrication, ability to read drawings, and a commitment to safety. Travel up to 25% and eligibility for a Secret clearance are part of the job.

Qualifications

• High school/trade or vocational degree.
• 5–10 years exp as a Shipfitter; experience is weighted by equivalencies.
• Familiarity with NAVSEA standards, MILSPECs, and shipyard schematics.
• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance or meet naval access requirements.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and technical specs.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, modify, lay out, fabricate, repair, and install plates, shapes, and pipe in ship alteration and repair.
• Lay out, position, align, and fit structural metal parts per blueprints.
• Fabricate and assemble metal parts using welding tools and cutting equipment.
• Interpret drawings and specs to guide fabrication and installation.
• Inspect finished assemblies for conformance to specs and safety standards.
