Job summary

Valence Surface Technologies in West Springfield, MA is seeking a Material Handler to receive and unload incoming materials, verify documentation, and log inventory while ensuring shipment accuracy.

The role also involves inspecting goods for damages, preparing items for return shipments, and supporting other departments in a busy shop environment. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and operate basic material-handling equipment.

Qualifications

• DOT compliance is required.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Receive and unload incoming materials and verify against packing slips and purchase orders.
• Ensure accuracy of shipments and process customer return shipments when needed.
• Sort, count, package, label, insure, unpack, and log inventory in transit or received.
• Inspect shipments for damages or defects; record discrepancies and notify supervisor or purchasing staff.
• Operate dolly, pallet jack, or forklift for loading and unloading.
• Follow department policies and safety/environmental standards; participate in continuous quality improvement.

• Accuracy of shipment; process return shipments from customers.
• Sorts, counts, packages, labels, insures, unpacks, and/or logs inventory which is shipped or received.
• Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
• Operate dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment.
• Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with all Microsoft office products.
• Capability of lifting packages or equipment up to 50lbs.
