Job description

DESCRIPTION

Ship Clerks play a crucial role in the Middle Mile network and are responsible for supporting our mission to be Earth's most customer-centric company. They manage daily department duties, including planning loads around standard departure times, controlling load flow, and ensuring proper trailer utilization. Ship Clerks assign job duties, provide work direction, and communicate with internal and external partners.

Ship Clerks drive and execute standard work impacting Safety, Quality, Productivity, Utilization, and On-time Performance. They support daily management tasks such as Load Planning, Load Flow Control, Load Quality, TDR, communication with upstream and downstream partners, labor allocation, leading meetings, and job duty assignment. They escalate barriers to Operations Leaders and collaborate to mitigate safety and performance issues.

Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Correspond with multiple shipping companies and their contacts.
  2. Use multiple shipping company's software to ship and track packages.
  3. Coordinate trailers to dock doors and cross docks using SSP.
  4. Troubleshoot shipping problems and resolve errors.
  5. Maximize trailer utilization to control transportation costs.
  6. Ensure on-time dock performance.
  7. Assist in updating Staging POD 5s and resource allocation.
  8. Oversee Load Flow Control for the building.
  9. Maintain load level performance tracking for load planning, dock performance, utilization, and misloads.
  10. Coordinate with Transportation teams on driver issues, trailer pool needs, yard move delays, inbound volume, and load swaps.
  11. Understand shipping requirements, rules, and obligations by carrier, destination, and package type.
  12. Ensure safety measures are in place and followed regarding docks and trailers.
  13. Assist in training associates and verifying SOP compliance.
  14. Track, report, and provide feedback on associate performance.
  15. Participate in Operational Excellence initiatives.
  16. Support production duties as needed.
  17. Understand workflow and daily production goals.
  18. Review and update SOPs as required.
  19. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  20. Identify and address safety hazards.
  21. Participate in safety initiatives and report injuries or violations immediately.
Basic Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Ability to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk for up to 12 hours, and perform physical activities like pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching.
  • Work 40 hours/week with overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in training, teaching, or presentations.
  • Willingness to work different shifts.
  • Flexibility to work in different areas based on training needs.
  • Excellent attendance.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Support Operational Excellence initiatives.
