Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position that prepares an employee to perform higher-level supervisory roles, such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. The trainee performs tasks as directed to prepare for future supervisory responsibilities, completes basic operations and management skills training, and learns about key aspects of the business (e.g., building customer loyalty through exceptional service) and CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training program, trainees are eligible for promotion to open Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor positions. These leadership roles support the CVS Store Management team in driving store execution and performance while building customer loyalty through excellent service. When no manager is onsite, the Operations or Shift Supervisor leads staff, ensures smooth store operations, and completes all opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions

• Apply deductive reasoning, analytical skills, and computer skills.
• Communicate effectively with store management and staff.
• Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Management Responsibilities

• Supervise store staff by assigning, directing, and following up on activities.
• Ensure effective communication between management and staff.

Customer Service Responsibilities

• Assist customers with questions, problems, and complaints.
• Promote CVS’s customer service culture by greeting, helping, and thanking customers.
• Handle customer relations issues per company policy and promote positive shopping experiences.
• Maintain customer confidentiality.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Deductive reasoning, analytical and computer skills, effective communication, flexible schedule.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in retail.

Education

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred but not required.

Work Hours & Compensation

Anticipated weekly hours: 20

Part-time position

Pay Range: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and location.
