Job description

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position designed to prepare employees for higher supervisory roles such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. The trainee performs tasks as directed to develop supervisory skills, completes basic management and operations training, and learns about key aspects of the business, including building customer loyalty through exceptional service and understanding CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training program, trainees may be considered for promotion to open supervisory positions. These roles support the CVS Store Management team by driving store execution and performance while focusing on excellent customer service. When no manager is onsite, the Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor leads the store staff, ensures smooth store operations, and oversees opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions:
1. Management
• Collaborate effectively with store management and staff
• Supervise store staff through assigning, directing, and following up on activities
• Communicate effectively with management and staff
2. Customer Service
• Assist customers with questions, problems, and complaints
• Promote CVS customer service culture (greet, offer help, thank)
• Handle customer relations in accordance with company policy, ensuring a positive shopping experience
• Maintain customer and patient confidentiality

Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Retail experience
• Deductive reasoning, analytical, and computer skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Flexibility to work early mornings, overnights, weekends, and overtime as needed
