Job summary

José Andrés Group in Orlando seeks an energetic Shift Supervisor to lead daily operations on the floor and act as Manager-on-Duty. You will coach hourly staff, ensure brand standards, and handle service line dynamics during peak periods.

The role requires strong communication, mastery of service protocols, and strict adherence to sanitation, allergy, and alcohol service policies. This hourly, non-exempt position offers growth toward management track.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of restaurant supervision experience.
• Ability to lead a team during high-volume periods.
• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of service standards, sanitation/health codes, and responsible alcohol service.
• Proven ability to coach, train, and evaluate team members fairly.
• Basic P&L literacy regarding labor, cash handling, and inventory.
• Ability to use POS systems, scheduling tools, and Google Workspace.
• Availability on nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead Service & Standards: Serve as floor leader and Manager-on-Duty during shifts.
• Run a smooth shift: deploy stations, set pacing, direct line flow, manage wait times.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings to set expectations, service goals, and menu knowledge highlights.
• Handle escalations and guest recovery with empathy, ownership, and sound judgement.
• Uphold SOPs and steps of service; use guest feedback and logs to reinforce consistency.
• Monitor sections, ticket times, and service cadence; adjust staffing or support.
• Opening & Closing Responsibilities: Execute opening procedures; lead closing procedures and ensure proper cash handling.
• Audit side work completion; ensure transitions between shifts are clean and organized.
• Assist with administrative tasks assigned by the General Manager.
• Talent Development & Coaching: Set expectations and coach team members in the moment.
• Support training for new hires and cross-training opportunities; document feedback.
• Foster a positive, respectful environment that celebrates performance.
• Culture & Communication: Champion values and maintain logs and notes across shifts.
• Encourage continuous improvement and adaptation to operations.
• Daily Operations & Compliance: Maintain DOH compliance; correct sanitation or safety issues.
• Ensure allergy protocol is followed and alcohol service is responsible.
• Financial Discipline: Manage in-shift labor and reconcile drawers; monitor inventory.
