Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Assist the director with staff work schedules and assignments.
  • Coordinate hourly house runs and ensure coverage during absences.
  • Inspect facility and rooms; monitor safety and cleanliness.
  • Track census and update CARES daily.
  • Record incidents and perform crisis intervention.
  • Maintain records of safety, fire, and building inspections.
  • Assist with client intakes and referrals.
  • Ensure proper distribution of metro cards per policy.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Shift Supervisor will provide leadership and supervision for operational staff. Generates work schedules and assignments for the operations staff, security and maintenance personnel. Provides or arranges for house coverage for unscheduled absences and other unexpected situations. Provides training to new staff; ensures that operations policies and procedures are enforced at all time.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist the director with work schedules and assignments for the staff
  • Perform hourly house runs to:
  • Perform inspections of facility and rooms
  • Ensure staff members are in their assigned locations
  • Monitor recreational rooms, laundry rooms and cafeteria to ensure that all residents are adhering to schedules
  • Arrange for coverage for unscheduled absences and other unexpected situations
  • Record and respond to incidents, client issues and complaints; perform crisis intervention procedures
  • Track clients' properties and store in lock up
  • Ensure daily census is monitored and accurate; ensure CARES is updated daily with current information
  • Perform weekly reconciliations to ensure all metro cards are accounted for and being distributed according to policy
  • Assist with intakes of new and returning clients, and submit them for approval
  • Keep records of safety, fire, and building inspections
  • Monitor all fire and safety equipment to ensure it is functional at all times
  • Monitor staff and assign tasks as necessary
  • Other duties in keeping with the scope and nature of the position
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma/GED required. Associate Degree in Social/Human Sciences, Psychology
  • Two years of experience working with the homeless and/or low and mixed-income population in addition to experience in child welfare, family work, and substance abuse
  • Understanding of low-income and homeless individuals and their specific needs
  • Current F-80 certification required
