Job summary

Charter Next Generation in Lexington, OH is hiring for a Direct Labor leadership role overseeing printing on plastic film, coordinating production and maintenance, with a rotating 3-4 day schedule and 12-hour shifts (7:00pm–7:00am on B night). You will supervise teams, ensure quality and safety, and drive continuous improvement in a growing packaging manufacturer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and lift up to 65 pounds.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with measuring tools.
• Strong communication and positive attitude.
• Willingness to learn in a technical environment.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate activities of employees in printing on plastic film.
• Monitor production schedules, adjust staffing and equipment to meet targets.
• Oversee setup, operation, and maintenance of printing presses and equipment.
• Ensure color matching, registration, and print quality per specs.
• Conduct regular quality checks and resolve issues in real time.
• Collaborate with extrusion and converting teams to ensure flow of materials.
• Mentor staff, enforce safety protocols and company policies.
• Manage day-to-day responsibilities and success of the Material Handler Team.
• Maintain production and downtime records and report metrics.
• Maintain inventory of inks, solvents, plates, and printing supplies.
• Ensure compliance with EHS regulations and waste disposal.
• Lead 5S, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement in printing.
• Lead weekly huddles and team meetings.

The Role

From machine operators to maintenance technicians to quality inspectors, our teams help protect what matters most—making everyday life safer, smarter, and more sustainable.

Schedule: Work only 15 days per month with our unique rotating 3-4 day schedule

• B – Night Shift:7:00pm - 7:00am (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday + alternating Saturdays)

What You'll Do

• Supervise and coordinate activities of employees engaged in printing on plastic film using flexographic or gravure presses.
• Monitor production schedules, adjust staffing or equipment use to meet targets, and minimize downtime.
• Oversee setup, operation, and maintenance of printing presses and associated equipment.
• Ensure proper color matching, registration, and print quality in alignment with customer specifications.
• Conduct regular quality checks and resolve any product or process issues in real-time.
• Collaborate with the extrusion and converting departments to ensure seamless flow of materials and information.
• Mentor, and evaluate team members; enforce safety protocols and company policies.
• Ensure staff is trained and growing in operator roles
• Manage day to day responsibilities, engagement, and success of Material Handler Team
• Maintain accurate production and downtime records; report metrics and improvement opportunities to leadership.
• Manage inventory of inks, solvents, plates, and other printing supplies.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations including proper handling of chemicals and waste disposal.
• Lead 5S, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement efforts in the printing area.
• Drive Engagement for reporting team
• Lead weekly huddles and team meetings

What You’ll Bring

Essential Qualifications:

• 5+ years of leadership experience required, with experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and lift up to 65 pounds
• Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with measuring tools
• Strong communication skills and positive attitude
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a technical environment
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of plastic extrusion experience
• Basic computer knowledge
• Previous manufacturing experience
• Wages ranging from $27.00 + per hour, dependent on experience.
• Additional $2.50 per hournight shift differential.
