Job summary

SmartLam North America in Alabama seeks a Production Supervisor to manage a shift of operators on the plant floor, ensuring on-time production, safety, and quality. This role directly supervises machine-center staff and collaborates with maintenance and project teams.

You will drive production targets, support process improvements, and enforce SOPs while maintaining accurate records and fostering a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience supervising people in a manufacturing environment, preferably wood processing.
• Capable of operating and training individuals on all tools and equipment centers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Creative problem solver with a positive attitude and track record of delivering results.
• Proficient with computers and MS Office Suite.
• Maintains strong understanding of product standards and SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Oversee plant floor operators by shift, ensuring on-time production and shift targets.
• Recruit, train, and develop operators to build effective teams.
• Communicate with Project Managers and Plant Manager on status and reports.
• Address quality or schedule risks to protect customers.
• Collaborate with Maintenance for rapid equipment support.
• Uphold safety and quality standards across all production activities.
• Identify cost control opportunities and drive efficiency improvements.
• Lead by example and enforce policies with zero tolerance for unsafe practices.
• Conduct annual reviews of direct reports with Plant Manager support.
• Provide operators with necessary information, tools, and resources to meet production needs.
• Maintain transparency and trust through communication and actions.
• Maintain accurate time and attendance records for all staff.
