Job summary

United States Steel Corporation is seeking a Shift Manager - Operations to lead and coordinate the safe, efficient, and economical operation of our facility. This role requires directing the operating crew, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and driving continuous improvement while maintaining a collaborative, respectful work environment.

Responsibilities include scheduling, monitoring production, and implementing cost-saving strategies.

Qualifications

• Must have HS diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience supervising crews.
• Experience with rotating shifts including weekends/holidays.
• Prior experience in a union environment or military leadership is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer the safety program to ensure a safe work environment.
• Coordinate, organize, and direct activities of the operating crew.
• Supervise union employees and coordinate with vendors and contractors.
• Monitor operation steps to ensure quality and operating practices.
• Reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.
• Develop and implement methods to eliminate problems and improve quality.
• Plan and direct production activities to meet cost factors.
• Coordinate material movement and equipment operation to meet customer specs.
• Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Devise and implement cost-saving strategies.
• Perform scheduling, production reporting, and safety conversations.
