Job summary

United States Steel Corporation is seeking a Shift Manager – Maintenance (Finishing) to lead maintenance crews, resolve equipment issues, and maintain safe, reliable mechanical systems. The role focuses on reducing downtime and supporting production, quality, and planning through effective supervision and execution of maintenance tasks.

The candidate will supervise union employees, coordinate with contractors, prioritize repairs, and drive continuous improvement in equipment reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience supervising maintenance crews in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance practices.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce safety practices and housekeeping per the U. S. Steel program.
• Lead mechanical maintenance activities to support Finishing and Galvanizing operations.
• Supervise union maintenance employees and coordinate with vendors and contractors.
• Coordinate repairs, preventive maintenance, and other planned work with Operations and Planning.
• Identify recurring equipment issues and drive reliability improvements.
• Complete shift reports, track work, and manage staffing including overtime.
