Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Rockport Works in Rockport, IN seeks a Shift Manager Operations for the Shipping Department to lead safety, quality, and production efforts on assigned shifts.

You will supervise hourly union staff, coordinate staffing, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with procedures, while maintaining accurate reporting and cultivating a safe, efficient work environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to train, lead, and ensure safety and quality compliance.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and production management systems.

Overview

Location: Rockport, IN. Cleveland-Cliffs, Rockport Works is looking for a Shift Manager Operations in our Shipping Department. This frontline leadership role is responsible for coordinating safety and quality efforts while overseeing production, ensuring compliance with all safety, quality and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all safety protocols, environmental regulations and operational procedures are strictly followed to maintain a safe work environment
• Provide direct supervision and leadership to hourly union production employees across assigned shifts
• Monitor and manage production performance to meet quality and efficiency goals
• Coordinate staffing and scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and effective operations for the shift
• Complete and maintain accurate reports and documentation related to production, quality and safety
• Administers discipline as required
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage diverse teams
• Ability to train, lead and hold others accountable for compliance of safety and quality
• Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
• Ability to work in a heavy industrial environment, including exposure to heat, noise and moving equipment
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications and production management systems
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Preferred Qualifications

• Associates or bachelor’s degree in management or related field
• Experience managing in a union environment and/or in heavy industry
