Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is seeking a Shift Manager Operations at our Cleveland, OH plant.

This front-line leadership role coordinates safety and quality activities, leads hourly employees, and oversees production to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations in a 24/7 environment. Responsibilities include directing shop-floor personnel, coordinating with maintenance, and driving continuous improvement while maintaining a fair, respectful work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimally 2 years in manufacturing/industrial operations or similar environment.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Capable of working in hot, dusty industrial conditions and lifting requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office and data tools.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety, environmental, and quality standards are met on shift.
  • Provide clear direction and accountability to hourly staff on the shop floor.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, planners, and schedulers to prioritize tasks.
  • Monitor operations and drive safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
  • Train and coach employees to foster safety and production excellence.

Job description

Location: Cleveland, OHCleveland-Cliffs Steel LLC has immediate openings for Shift Manager Operations positions at our Cleveland, OH plant. This front-line leadership role is responsible for coordinating safety and quality activities, leading hourly employees, and overseeing production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance.The Shift Manager serves as a key link between hourly personnel, maintenance, and leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.Summary of Responsibilities:Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards; conduct safety, quality, and environmental audits in a timely manner.Provide clear direction to employees and maintain accountability for adherence to safety rules, environmental requirements, and job procedures.Monitor operating conditions and work with production and maintenance teams to address operational issues and drive safe, efficient performance.Schedule, supervise, and lead hourly operating and maintenance personnel, working directly with employees on the shop floor and from the Shift Manager's office.Train, coach, and develop employees while fostering a fair and respectful work environment focused on safety, teamwork, and production excellence.Collaborate with maintenance teams, planners, and schedulers to prioritize corrective and preventive maintenance activities.Make timely decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and escalate issues when appropriate.Identify opportunities for improvement and support initiatives that enhance reliability, quality, safety, and productivity.Coordinate with employees, contractors, and other departments to support production and maintenance activities.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited school.Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, military, or other relevant operations environment.Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, within a 24/7 operating environment; extended hours as needed.Ability to work in a hot, dusty industrial environment and perform physical requirements including climbing stairs and ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and exposure to databases.Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.Preferred Qualifications:Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.Three or more years of leadership experience in a unionized heavy industrial or military environment, with responsibility for workforce accountability, performance management, and operational communication.Prior steel mill experience strongly preferred.Relocation assistance is not provided for this position.The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $110,000. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is the largest flat-rolled steel company and the largest iron ore pellet producer in North America.
