South Middlesex Opportunity Council in Worcester, MA seeks a Shift Leader for the Assessment Beds program to oversee on-duty staff, maintain a safe, respectful atmosphere, and ensure program operations align with guidelines while engaging clients with dignity.

The role requires coordinating tasks, documenting logs, HMIS data entry, facilitating referrals, and adhering to all laws and funder requirements. A valid driver’s license and ability to provide transportation are required.

Qualifications

  • Sensitive to homeless population and able to engage respectfully.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage on-duty staff to ensure a safe, respectful atmosphere within the program environment.
  • Ensure that all necessary tasks are carried out on each shift in support of effective program operations including safety and security protocols, meals, client storage, access to belongings and general adherence to program guidelines.
  • Take an active and participatory role in directly relating to clients throughout the course of the shift in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the facility including light cleaning duties.
  • Assist in the referral process including completing screening intakes as assigned by the Triage Supervisor.
  • Provide assistance in making and monitoring referrals as assigned.
  • Maintain appropriate logs and records as required by program operating protocols.
  • Participate in data entry to ensure full HMIS compliance as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws as well as funding requirements.
  • Provide transportation to clients to and from appointments, as requested by Program Director.
  • Engage all clients by understanding and addressing their needs whether within or outside the scope of work.
  • Attend & participate in team meetings as requested and communicate effectively with clients and staff in other areas.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client, employee and agency information in accordance with federal and state laws and funder requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with program/department, agency and/or funder requirements, as well as, SMOC policies & procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary

Light travel is required. As part of the responsibilities of this position, the Shift Leader will have direct or incidental contact with clients served by SMOC in various programs funded or administered through the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. A successful background check is required.

Saturday through Monday: 3:00PM - 11:00PM. Includes a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
