Job summary

Velvet Taco in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a dedicated Shift Leader/Supervisor to manage a dynamic team and ensure excellent guest experiences. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a restaurant environment and possess strong leadership, multitasking, and organizational skills.

This position requires you to work in a fast-paced environment while managing cash handling and ensuring food safety standards. A friendly disposition and the ability to embrace feedback are essential.

Responsibilities

• Manages the Hourly Team Members and interacts with Guests in a friendly, professional, and responsive way.
• Executes opening, mid, and closing duties daily following Velvet Taco’s standard procedures and recipe guidelines.
• Skilled at handling Guest concerns and guiding them toward a positive resolution.
• Adept at cash-handling, setting up POS drawers, performing comps and voids, and managing deposits during the shift.
• Acts as a leader among the Team Members, motivating others to follow procedures, work with urgency, and ensure a positive Guest experience.
• Skilled at de‑escalating issues between Team Members, making everyone feel heard.
• Supports Management with the inventory process.
• Always prioritizes food safety during the shift by performing line checks, checking shelf storage and expiration dates for prepped food, and keeping the restaurant clean.
• Manages the daily prep list and signs off on all prepped items to ensure adherence to specifications and flavor profiles.
• Role model for maintaining a safe environment for Team Members & Guests by enforcing the use of cut gloves, keeping floors clean and dry, and removing obstacles.
• Communicates and delivers a friendly, welcoming, exceptional guest experience.
• Embraces feedback, is eager to learn, and takes accountability for actions.
• Proficient in a fast‑paced environment and manages time effectively.
• Comfortable in all areas of the restaurant as it relates to culinary, hospitality, and Guest interaction.

The Necessities

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• 2 years of experience as a Shift Leader/Supervisor in a Restaurant Environment.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays depending on Restaurant needs.
• Regularly exposed to heat and/or humid conditions.
• Lunch and dinner rushes require constant multitasking in a fluctuating, fast‑paced work environment.
• Allergen exposure to wheat, nuts, gluten, soy, and milk products on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Kneeling occasionally to reach low storage and refrigeration.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
• Ability to handle stressful situations with compassion, composure, and professionalism.
• Possesses a Food Handler's Certification and is comfortable working around food.
• Possesses an Alcoholic Beverage Service Certification and complies with all regulations.
• Close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision are required.
• Must possess dexterity to handle tongs, pots/pans, and other equipment.
