The Shift Manager (SM) is an hourly role that assists management with routine administrative and operational tasks within the restaurant. Key focus areas include:
The human resources responsibilities are limited to crew training and ongoing coaching and feedback for hourly employees. The Shift Manager may also assume full responsibility for opening and closing the restaurant when management is unavailable, maintaining administrative control but not serving in a managerial capacity.
Ensures fast, accurate service, positive guest relations, and product consistency with company standards. Conducts periodic food safety audits and provides ongoing coaching and feedback to crew.
Shares responsibility with the management team for cash procedures, including bank deposits, making change, opening/closing safes, and verifying cash drawers.
Conducts daily inventory, food safety audits, and sets up control sheets. Reviews facility and equipment readiness. Monitors inventory, food prep, and order fulfillment. Ensures adherence to standards and resolves bottlenecks to meet speed of service goals. In the absence of management, handles food and supply deliveries, and manages restaurant opening and closing.
Provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and hands-on training for crew members in the Learning Zone.
