Job summary

Responsibilities

• Delegate tasks to restaurant staff and supervise their performance.
• Maintain a fully stocked inventory and order food supplies as needed.
• Arrange shift coverage when employees take time off or are unavailable.
• Help staff resolve on-the-job challenges and customer issues.
• Track and impact daily costs and revenues, including labor, food cost, guest satisfaction, and sales.
• Balance the cash drawer at the end of the shift.
• Coordinate with suppliers for food product orders.
• Inform the next Shift Leader about pending tasks.
• Report maintenance and training needs to management.
• Adhere to sanitation and safety policies to protect guests.
• Open or close the restaurant when responsible for the first or last shift.

Job description

The hourly shift leader duties include delegating tasks to restaurant staff and supervise their performance; maintaining a fully stocked inventory and order food supplies, as needed; arranging to have shifts covered (e.g. when employees take time off); helping staff resolve on-the-job challenges; tracking and impacting daily costs and revenues, including labor, food cost, guest satisfaction, and sales; balancing the cash drawer at the end of the shift; coordinating with suppliers as they deliver food product orders; ensuring client satisfaction and gracefully handling any complaints; opening or closing the restaurant (when responsible for the first or last shift); informing the next Shift Leader about pending tasks; reporting maintenance and training needs; protecting establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation and safety policies; other duties as requested by management.
