Job summary

McAlister’s Deli in Tennessee is seeking an Hourly Shift Manager to lead the team during busy periods, delegate tasks, coach performance, and maintain a smooth flow from opening to closing. You’ll bring positivity, clear communication, and a commitment to great service.

As part of a fast-paced, team‑oriented environment, you’ll ensure the restaurant stays stocked, coordinate shift coverage, balance cash at the end of each shift, monitor labor and food costs, and uphold sanitation and safety

Qualifications

• Experience leading a restaurant shift and guiding a team.
• Strong communication and teamwork to keep service smooth.
• Ability to manage inventory, station cleanliness, and prep.
• Flexible scheduling, including some weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Lead the shift by delegating tasks, coaching team performance, and keeping the flow smooth from start to finish
• Help maintain quality and readiness by ensuring the restaurant is fully stocked with inventory and food supplies as needed
• Keep things covered by arranging shift coverage when team members take time off
• Support team members by resolving on-the-job challenges quickly and effectively
• Monitor and improve daily performance by tracking labor, food costs, sales, and guest satisfaction
• Ensure accuracy by balancing the cash drawer at the end of each shift
• Coordinate with suppliers during deliveries to confirm product arrives correctly and on time
• Deliver a great guest experience by ensuring client satisfaction and handling complaints with care and professionalism
• Open or close the restaurant when responsible for the first or last shift
• Maintain continuity by communicating key updates and pending tasks to the next Shift Manager
• Help the restaurant improve by reporting maintenance and training needs
• Protect guests and team members by following sanitation and safety policies
