Job summary

Charcuterie Artisans is seeking a Shift Lead to oversee production operations on the evening/afternoon shift. You will train staff, follow defined processes, and coordinate with the maintenance team to keep equipment running smoothly.

The role emphasizes adherence to USDA facility practices, lean process improvements, and meeting productivity targets while minimizing downtime. Strong communication with the Production Supervisor is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years in a Lead Role in Manufacturing, preferably USDA Food Establishment.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office and ERP systems.
  • Maintain and improve food safety, defense, and quality programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead production operations during a shift and train staff.
  • Follow production processes and coordinate maintenance with the maintenance team.
  • Work with Production Supervisor to meet productivity targets and minimize downtime.
  • Adhere to USDA facility best practices and lean principles.
  • Communicate priorities and issues to the Production Supervisor.

Job description

Schedule: Mon-Fri 2:45p-11:30p as well as Saturdays as needed

Summary:

The Shift Leader reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for leading production operations during a shift. This includes leading and training the staff, following production processes, and coordinating maintenance and upkeep of equipment with the maintenance team. The Shift Lead must follow best practices of operating in a USDA facility and lead efforts to continuously improve processes in a lean environment. The Shift Lead works closely with the Production Supervisor to ensure that productivity targets are met, and downtime events are kept to a minimum.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Performs regular duties as assigned.
  • Notifies supervisors of damaged or defective products.
  • Monitors and instructs new workers on operations.
  • Monitors production and consultations with production supervisor/manager as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of the product, production processes and other techniques for maximizing the level of production.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures
  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team
  • Awareness of sanitation and hygiene procedures and practices,
  • Concern for the safety of self and co-workers and a responsible attitude
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years in a Lead Role in Manufacturing preferably USDA Food Establishment
  • Solid computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
  • Maintain and improve food safety, food defense, and food quality programs within the operation.
  • Excellent Communication and problem- solving skills
Physical Requirements
  • Physical effort equals frequent lifting or moving materials.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand, bend and/or reach.
  • Manual dexterity- the ability to quickly move hands and arms, manipulate and/or assemble objects.
  • The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects.
  • The use of gloves, hair net and frocks are required.

Work Environment: Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and products up to 25 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to, eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
