Job summary

UCBEnvironmental is seeking a Shift Lead to manage front dock operations, safety, and production. You will unload/load trailers, organize inventory, and ensure a crew of production workers follows all policies.

The role requires planning ahead to keep work moving and maintain a safe working environment. Lead responsibilities include staffing, coaching, coordinating forklift and driver activities, and ensuring paperwork is completed accurately.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Minimum 5 years in warehouse/manufacturing.
• At least 2 years of lead experience in manufacturing or warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Daily Production Planning: Communicate with the production manager at the start of the day to discuss daily production needs
• Staffing Management & Training: Ensure proper staffing on each shift by requesting additional labor or adjusting staff levels based on workflow needs; provide real-time coaching and hands-on training
• Forklift Coordination: Provide directions to forklift drivers, keeping them organized and on task throughout the day
• Trailer Status Updates: Communicate with the production manager about trailer status to minimize downtime
• Paperwork Management: Complete load sheets and submit them when trailers are loaded or unloaded
• Driver Coordination: Coordinate with OTR drivers in dock 1 with required paperwork
• Safety Leadership: Enforce PPE policies and safety protocols
• Performance Monitoring: Ensure employees meet quotas and coach underperformers
• End-of-Shift Setup: Ensure equipment and tote/ sorter setups are prepared before shift end
