The Shift Leader is responsible for leading restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring excellent customer service, food safety, team performance, and operational standards. The Shift Leader acts as the manager-on-duty when scheduled, supporting the Restaurant General Manager and Assistant Manager while developing team members and driving results.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Execution
- Lead assigned shifts to ensure smooth, efficient restaurant operations
- Ensure all food is prepared, held, and served according to KFC standards
- Monitor speed of service, order accuracy, and product quality
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Complete shift checklists, cash handling, deposits (if applicable), and required paperwork
Customer Experience
- Ensure every customer is greeted promptly and served with hospitality
- Address customer concerns quickly and professionally
- Monitor dining room, drive‑thru, and front counter for cleanliness and flow
- Reinforce service standards and friendly interaction with every guest
- Lead, coach, and motivate team members during the shift
- Assign positions and adjust staffing based on business needs
- Provide real‑time coaching and feedback
- Ensure all team members follow uniform and appearance standards
- Support training of new hires and cross‑training of existing team members
People & Labor Management
- Execute break schedules and ensure proper coverage
- Support labor goals by managing productivity and positioning
- Communicate staffing or performance issues to management
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure a safe working environment for employees and guests
- Follow and enforce company policies and procedures
- Report incidents, equipment issues, or safety concerns promptly
