Radisson Plaza Hotel Kalamazoo hosts a Starbucks store seeking a Shift Lead to guide floor operations, mentor baristas, and uphold service excellence in a high-volume setting.

Lead opening and closing routines, monitor cash-handling, and ensure beverage quality, health compliance, and cleanliness while fostering a positive team culture.

You’ll manage peak periods, support inventory, and help create appealing visual displays for guests and regulars alike.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory, lead, or senior barista experience in a high-volume retail or food service environment preferred.
• Strong communication skills, a positive "team-first" attitude, and the ability to keep calm and decisive under pressure.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving, time management, and task delegation.
• Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more), bend, stoop, perform repetitive motion tasks, and lift up to 40 lbs. safely.
• Ability to safely work with coffee equipment and sanitizing chemicals while maintaining strict health code compliance.

Responsibilities

• Run smooth, efficient shifts by deploying baristas effectively, managing floor flow, and stepping in during peak rushes to multitask across register, bar, and guest service.
• Lead and foster a positive team culture, and actively participate in training, mentoring, and onboarding new associates.
• Champion the Make It Right philosophy, model fast and friendly service, and empower the team to build connections with first-time visitors and recognize our daily regulars.
• Oversee daily opening, mid-shift, and closing procedures, ensuring all checklists, cash-handling protocols, and register procedures are completed accurately.
• Ensure strict adherence to beverage quality, food safety, health code standards, cleanliness, and store sanitation guidelines.
• Assist with receiving, stocking, and organizing inventory, while creating attractive, up-to-date visual merchandise displays.
• Identify operational needs during slower periods, delegate tasks, and drive store organization and prep projects.
