Job summary

Walgreens in Toms River, NJ is hiring a store associate to open and close the store when management is absent, perform required systems start-ups, cash handling, and ensure the floor and stockroom are ready for the business day.

You will greet customers, help with products and services, handle returns, refunds, and voids, assist with backdoor/vendor deliveries, maintain inventory, oversee pricing/signage, and support safety and compliance across the store.

Qualifications

• One year of prior leadership, supervisory, or retail key holder work experience.
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Obtains and maintains valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.

Responsibilities

• Open and close the store, start-up systems, cash handling, and prepare the floor and stockroom for the business day.
• Handle product returns, order voids, refunds, cash drops, and provide change as requested.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Coach team on customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive customer experience.
• Hold store keys, open/close when management is absent, and assist with vendor deliveries via backdoor.
• Record sales, scanning errors, price verifications, and voids on the cash registers.
• Assist with displays, pricing, signage, and stock rotations to support promotions.
• Maintain accurate inventory counts across departments, stockroom, and overstock areas.
• Follow Outdate program and complete pricing tasks in line with local regulations.
• Assist with bookkeeping activities and basic store maintenance for a professional storefront.
• Ensure compliance with state/local laws on regulated products and bag checks for staff.
• Communicate tasks to team members when store management is not present.
• Participate in training and personal development initiatives as requested.
