Certified Veterinary Technician Shift Lead – North Tampa
Pay Range: $23.43 - $33.84 per hour (determined based on experience, skill level, education and applicable laws)

Banfield is a practice that focuses on quality preventive care for pets. As a Certified Veterinary Technician, you will collaborate with veterinary professionals to provide comprehensive care, support client service, and contribute to career growth.
Role Responsibilities
- Actively recruit new clients by promoting hospital services, wellness plans, and preventive care.
- Manage routing of clients and pets to ensure superior care and productivity of the veterinary team.
- Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional service; welcome clients and pets, ensure comfort, educate on pet health, and prepare procedures not requiring veterinarian assistance.
- Assist incoming clients by completing documentation, entering pet information and history, using proper collars and tags, and ensuring prompt service.
- Assist outgoing clients by providing instructions, invoices, dispensing prescription items, selling retail products, and scheduling future appointments.
- Manage finances by maintaining accurate balances and performing opening and closing procedures.
- Act as additional support for the veterinarian, ensuring quality care and maximizing productivity while communicating with associates.
- Obtain relevant client information, maintain complete medical charts.
- Ensure safety of pets, clients, and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques and maintaining sterile, organized treatment areas.
- Assist with surgery as applicable.
- Train and mentor new paraprofessional associates.
- Quality check medical records, home medications, regulatory documents, cleanliness, and timeliness of doctor appointments.
- Utilize technical skills within state practice acts and conduct administrative functions as necessary.
- Upon approval from supervising veterinarian, perform veterinary technician appointments under direction and supervision, in compliance with state law.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Assist Practice Manager in developing an efficient, productive team that provides high‑quality care, following Banfield protocols and local, state, and federal laws.
- Support Practice Manager with labor management and team supervision.
- Assist in selection, training, and day‑to‑day supervision of the paraprofessional team.
- Create an environment supporting efficient veterinary care.
- Provide effective communication across associates, clients, hospital leadership, and Central Team Support.
- Ensure all associates adhere to dress and grooming guidelines.
- Prepare the team on scheduled cases and assist with case transfers and triage.
- Identify bottlenecks and develop solutions to improve medical operations and client service.
- Confer with field leadership and assist in client resolution decisions and invoice adjustments.
- Address equipment issues and assist in inventory management.
Requirements
- Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT, RVT, LVT, or LVMT).
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program (preferred).
