Job summary

State of North Carolina’s Piedmont Correctional Institution in Salisbury, NC seeks an experienced Boiler Operator (S) to operate and supervise steam boilers and related equipment for facility heating and utilities. The role requires leading shift operators, monitoring readings, and ensuring safe, efficient operation.

Qualifications

• One year of progressive experience in mechanical maintenance or boiler operation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Documented knowledge of boiler operation and related equipment.
• Knowledge of maintenance requirements for boilers and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and supervise steam boilers and related equipment used for facility heating and utility services.
• Serve as the shift leader or lead operator in a medium- to large-sized steam plant.
• Record and monitor pressure, temperature, water level, fuel consumption, and other readings.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on boilers and associated equipment.
• Train and supervise boiler operators and plant staff.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and operating procedures.
