Job summary

The NC Department of Adult Correction, Piedmont Correctional Institution in Salisbury, NC, seeks a Boiler Operator to operate and supervise steam boilers and related equipment for heating and utilities.

This full-time position requires leading a shift, monitoring readings, performing maintenance, and coordinating with facility maintenance and engineering to ensure safe, reliable boiler operation.

Qualifications

• One year of progressive experience in mechanical maintenance or boiler operation.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may qualify.
• Documented knowledge of boiler operation and maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and supervise the operation of steam boilers and related equipment.
• Lead shift or lead operator in a medium- to large-sized steam plant.
• Monitor pressure, temperature, water level, fuel consumption and readings.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on boilers and equipment.
• Coordinate with facility maintenance, HVAC and engineering staff.
