Winston-Salem State University is seeking a Utility Plant Operator to join the Boiler Plant team in Winston-Salem, NC. This position trains on first shift (8am-4pm, Mon-Fri) and may transition to second (4pm-12am) or third (12am-8am) shifts as needed.

The role operates, monitors and maintains boilers and related equipment, performs routine preventative maintenance, logs data in Google Docs, and communicates with the On-Call technician for after-hours emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related experience; or equivalent combination.
• Requires certification(s).
• Two to three years of mechanical or boiler maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of boiler maintenance principles.
• Ability to work independently and to keep accurate records.

Responsabilités

• Perform basic operations and routine preventative maintenance of boilers and related equipment.
• Monitor and adjust operations; ensure emissions and regulatory compliance.
• Inspect plant equipment including fuel gas compressors, air filters, pumps, and cooling towers.
• Troubleshoot routine issues and operate systems and instrumentation.
• Log boiler data entries and generate reports in Google Docs.
• Communicate with On-Call technician and customers during after-hours emergencies.
