Job summary

Humane Colorado is seeking a compassionate veterinary assistant to support our shelter veterinary services and provide excellent customer service to patrons. This role supports animal welfare across four facilities and helps maintain a high standard of care for over 20,000 homeless pets and horses annually.

The position involves assisting technicians and veterinarians, administering medications, handling and restraining animals, data entry, and clinic reception duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Professional experience in animal welfare/working with animals preferred.
• Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist technicians and veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures.
• Administer medications to shelter animals as directed.
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain surgical and medical areas.
• Maintain medical equipment and supplies.
• Assist in reception duties: greet patrons, schedule appointments, fill prescriptions.
