Job summary

YWCA South Hampton Roads is seeking a Resident Services Assistant II to support residents at the Emergency Shelter. Under supervision, you will assist in basic needs, provide shelter orientation, respond to crises, and help with safety planning.

You will also conduct intake sessions, referrals, and trauma-informed crisis interventions while maintaining confidentiality. Ideal candidates have a background in social services, proven ability to work independently, and a willingness to travel

Qualifications

  • Combination of related education and experience equivalent to one year in social work or related field.
  • One year experience working with survivors of domestic, sexual, intimate partner violence.
  • Must complete a background check and onboarding program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in facilitation of basic need services for victims of violence.
  • Maintain effective resident communication and shelter orientation.
  • Respond to crisis situations with conflict resolution and safety planning.
  • Provide intake sessions and referrals including mental health evaluations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and client records per policy.
