Job summary

VOALA in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking an entry-level Monitor to safeguard the shelter, enforce access control, screen bags, and patrol premises to deter theft and ensure safety for participants, staff and visitors.

The role emphasizes professionalism, incident reporting, on-site duties, and readiness to respond to emergencies. A valid CA driver license is preferred, with fingerprint clearance and safety training required.

Responsibilities

• SHELTER ENTRANCE MONITORING: guard entry/exit and verify authorized persons.
• BAG & PERSON SCREENING: screen belongings to ensure safety.
• Patrol premises to detect intrusions and report safety issues.
• SHELTER SAFETY: assist with emergencies and maintain safe operations.
• As a role model, put clients’ needs first and document daily activities.
