Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Shelter Worker in Modesto, CA. You will provide essential shelter services to clients under supervision, ensuring a safe environment and assisting with daily operations.

Required at least a high school diploma and 18+ years old, with preferred background in social services. On-site position with full-time hours and a wage of approximately $16.90 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Education/experience in social services/substance abuse (preferred).
• Experience with disadvantaged populations (preferred).
• 18 years old (required).

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a safe environment with non-violent communication.
• Secure guests’ personal property at intake and during the day.
• Direct guests in cleaning and caring for sleeping areas.
• Assist with shelter guest intakes and appointments with staff.
• Monitor and assist guests in laundry and day room areas.
• Clean and sanitize sleeping areas, bathrooms, kitchen, and offices.
• Any other duties requested by Supervisors/Officers.
• Other related duties as required.
