Job summary

The Salvation Army Southwest Division seeks a Recreation Coordinator for the Mike Michaels Activity Center at Phoenix Family Services Emergency Shelter. The role oversees the recreation staff, plans programs, and delivers recreation therapy and case management to residents and their children.

Responsibilities include scheduling, program design, community partner development, progress documentation, and collaboration with the shelter team to support residents’ well-being, safety, and trauma

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Recreation, Child Development, Education, Human or Social Services required.
• Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences.
• Knowledge of case management processes and evaluation of client satisfaction.
• Curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups.
• Experience managing staff in recreational or social services environment.
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Must maintain First Aid/CPR certification; able to pass background checks; valid AZ driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision to the recreation team.
• Manage staffing schedule and center coverage.
• Oversee daily operations of the activity center.
• Organize group and individual recreation programs per plan of care.
• Develop community partnerships and recruit volunteers.
• Document progress and participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
