The Salvation Army USA Western Territory seeks a Recreation Coordinator for the Mike Michaels Activity Center at the Phoenix Family Services Emergency Shelter. You will supervise the recreation team, organize programs, and coordinate with staff to support residents’ care plans.

Bachelor's in Recreation/Child Development/Education/Human or Social Services is required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Strong leadership and MS Office skills are essential; valid AZ driver’s license and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Recreation Child Development, Education, Human or Social Services required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests.
  • Knowledge of case management processes: assessments, standards, and satisfaction evaluation.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and training design, teaching/instruction, and measurement of training effects.
  • Experience managing staff in recreational or social services environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to relate positively with staff, clientele, and the public.
  • Computer literate in MS Office products.
  • Maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Must pass criminal background check & obtain Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Must have a valid Arizona DL with clean driving record and complete Fleet Safety elearning.
  • Flexible work schedule to meet Activity Center hours (evenings/weekends).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to the recreation team.
  • Manage staffing schedule to ensure proper coverage of activity center.
  • Provide day-to-day operational oversight for activity center.
  • Organizes group and individual recreation programs according to the shelter plan of care.
  • Work to develop community partners for greater support and volunteers.
  • Schedule events, programs, activities, and volunteer groups for recreation enrichment.
  • Develop new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products.
  • Monitor information from materials/events to assess problems and solve solutions.
  • Maintain statistical data on daily activity attendance and hours of participation.
  • Reports and documents all incidents and accidents per procedures.
  • Develop programs for residents including those who have experienced trauma.
  • Support positive engagement through social-emotional well-being.
  • Coordinate with staff to document progress for participating families.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care plan meetings.
  • Collaborate with Shelter Manager and others to create program outcome goals.
  • Submit and maintain case notes in shelter case management systems (WellSky, HMIS).
  • Other duties as assigned related to Recreation Coordinator.
