Job summary

Highland Park Community Development Corporation is seeking a Program Director in Brooklyn, NY. This leadership role oversees shelter operations, staff supervision, budget control, and regulatory compliance to ensure high-quality client services.

The position reports to the Director of Programs and requires a Master’s degree with extensive experience in homelessness services. Exempt, full-time, based in Brooklyn with strong community and funding coordination.

Qualifications

• The minimum is 7–10 years’ experience in services to homeless people or senior shelter administration; budget experience is strongly desired.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with staff and residents.
• Master’s degree or higher in a related field and related licensure.

Responsibilities

• Exercise overall responsibility for safe operation and results of all program operations at the facility.
• Maintain a healthy, safe environment and guide residents toward independent living.
• Operate the facility within the annual budget and comply with contract requirements.
• Serve as primary liaison to DHS and coordinate with HR for staff hiring and development.
• Ensure staff training and professional development to meet program needs.
• Ensure compliance with city/state regulations and contract goals.
• Identify funding streams to enhance services and liaise with community partners.
• Direct supervision of department heads and key staff.
