Job summary

Samaritan Village, Inc. is seeking an Operations Coordinator I to ensure safe, efficient operations at a Shelter site.

You will oversee administrative, fiscal, food services, safety, security, and transportation systems, supporting a positive environment for clients and staff. The role requires an FDNY F-80 Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems, plus experience supervising shelter operations and knowledge of NYC DHS regulations.

Qualifications

• Must have at least three years of related management experience supervising staff in shelter/transitional or permanent supportive housing.
• FDNY F-80 Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems is required.
• Ability to implement and monitor policy and procedure in accordance with agency guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Ensures program adherence to Federal, State, and NYC Department of Homeless Service regulatory guidelines governing physical plant and fire/safety management.
• Manages and monitors program environment to ensure safety policies are followed and relationships remain positive.
• Manages daily operations, vehicle/transportation systems and client metro-card distribution, fire drills, attendance and front desk activities; supervises guards and visiting providers.
• Ensures shelter units meet DHS and OTDA standards at admission and during stay; updates critical files as needed.
• Maintains program census and attendance; coordinates with budget for monthly reconciliations with Cares.
