Job summary

Hesed House in Aurora, IL seeks a Director of PADS PM to lead the evening and overnight shelter programs from 3 PM to 7 AM, seven days a week. You will ensure safe, dignified operations for the 200+ nightly guests.

You’ll hire, train, and lead staff across two shifts, work with the AM Shelter Director, manage the program budget, and prepare reports for the Hesed Board and funders. A hands-on leader with trauma-informed care experience is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• 3–5 years in homeless services, shelter ops, human services, or related field.
• Experience supporting people facing mental health challenges, substance use, trauma, and crisis.
• Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• Professionalism, discretion, and strong commitment to confidentiality with guests.
• Budget management and reporting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field; experience considered.
• Ability to pass DCFS and criminal background checks, CPR cert within 60 days, TB testing annually.
• Ability to climb stairs regularly and lift up to 50 lbs.
• MSW or related master's degree preferred; Spanish/English bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead evening and overnight programs 3 PM–7 AM, seven days a week.
• Hire, train, and lead staff across two shifts.
• Develop staff in de-escalation and trauma-informed care.
• Take the lead on complex guest situations and ensure safety and order.
• Coordinate with AM Shelter Director for 24/7 operations.
• Build relationships with community partners serving the same population.
• Strengthen volunteer engagement with Development and Volunteer teams.
• Develop and manage the PADS Shelter budget and track expenses and grants.
• Prepare program reports for the Hesed Board and grant funders.
• Manage staff conflicts and uphold accountability.
