St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ, is hiring a Shelter Medical Assistant for a full-time role. The position supports medical care for shelter and foster animals, including medication administration, triage, and basic lab work.

Responsibilities include handling animals, recording treatment details, assisting veterinarians, and coordinating with cross-functional teams. Requires 3+ years in veterinary medicine and willingness to obtain Euthanasia Technician Certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in veterinary medicine.
• Experience in animal shelter medicine preferred.
• Eligibility for and willingness to obtain and maintain Euthanasia Technician Certification.
• Commitment to ASV Guidelines and evolving best practices.

Responsabilités

• Perform low-stress handling, restraint, and triage for all animals.
• Oversee and support medical procedures per established protocols.
• Administer medications and document in treatment records.
• Establish and communicate treatment plans and schedules.
• Review medical records daily for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain detailed records including logs and reporting documentation.
• Collaborate with Shelter Medical Technicians and cross-functional teams.
• Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures and anesthesia.
