Job summary

St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in New Jersey seeks an experienced veterinary professional to support medical care for shelter and foster animals.

Under the Medical Services Manager, you will administer medications, triage incoming animals, assist in surgeries, and participate in euthanasia as needed. You will work closely with Shelter Medical Technicians and cross-functional teams to ensure continuity of care, maintain records, and support humane handling and treatment protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in veterinary medicine.
• Experience in animal shelter medicine preferred.
• Eligibility for and willingness to obtain and maintain Euthanasia Technician Certification.
• Valid driver’s license in good standing required.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and triage animals.
• Assist veterinarians with surgical procedures.
• Maintain medical records and DEA logs.
• Support scheduling of surgeries and diagnostics.
• Perform basic laboratory tests and sample collection.
• Communicate medical information to adopters and staff.
