Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory in Philadelphia, PA is hiring a Kitchen Worker at the Red Shield Family Residence. The role supports shelter operations by preparing meals per established menus and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen and dining area.

Immediate start with evenings and weekends work required. Responsibilities include unloading deliveries, storing food, and working closely with staff and residents to uphold hygiene and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must have a food safety certification recognized by the National Restaurant Association within 90 days of hire.
• Must have H.S. diploma / GED.
• Must be able to safety use knives, mechanical slicer, and other basic kitchen utensils and appliances
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of training and clearances as required by PA law.

Responsibilities

• Execute meals according to menus set by Kitchen Supervisor in a family shelter.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment and participate in kitchen/dining cleanup after meals.
• Unload deliveries, store food, and keep storage areas clean.
• Uphold safety and cleanliness of the kitchen and work well with staff and residents.
