Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division in La Crosse operates an emergency shelter that serves meals to residents and clients of the meal program. The Cook will plan, prepare, and serve meals in coordination with the Food Services Manager and ensure a sanitary, organized kitchen and pantry.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily pantry activities, maintaining client records and statistics, and supporting volunteers.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year food service experience.
• Must have completed the Restaurant ServSafe Certification program or will complete within six (6) months of hire.
• Must have valid driver’s license and pass MVR requirements for Salvation Army insurance.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and serve meals in conjunction with Food Services Manager.
• Sanitary work environment.
• Monitor donations and other food and non-food inventory.
• Help create and maintain a comfortable and respectful environment for clients.
• Clean and properly arrange the freezer, cooler, and pantry on a weekly basis.
• Oversee daily food pantry to include maintaining current computer records of clients/activity, report monthly statistics, assist volunteers with clients and pantry needs.
• Provide seasonal support as requested.
• Be available to work nights and weekends.
• Other duties as assigned by the Corps Officers.
