Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a part-time shelter supervisor to oversee intake, security, and supportive services for residents in a community shelter. You will coordinate with case managers, assist with basic needs, and maintain a safe, clean environment.

Responsibilities include de-escalation, crisis response, and supervising volunteers. This role supports those in need and emphasizes compassionate, non-discriminatory service within our mission.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Experience working with the homeless population desirable.
• Desireable: ability to supervise and ensure safety within shelter operations.

Responsibilities

• Conducts intake interviews for new shelter residents.
• Monitors room assignments and distributes basic necessities.
• Provides supervision of shelter and residents, ensuring rules and policies are followed.
• Assist clients with needs and refer to case manager as appropriate.
• Provide de-escalation and crisis response.
• Answer telephone calls and take messages as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of shelter common areas.
• Assist with food service preparations and serving.
• Document shift activities according to procedures.
• Perform room inspections.
• Supervise volunteers when assigned.
