Job summary

The Salvation Army St. Cloud Corps is seeking a Housing Advocate to support shelter participants in a safe, respectful environment. You will monitor daily shelter activities, respond to needs/crises, help with operations and meals, and complete required documentation to ensure accurate records.

Ideal candidates have at least a High School diploma and experience with homelessness or related populations, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of experience serving individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability preferred.
• Experience in shelter services or human services is preferred.
• Must pass background checks and maintain professional boundaries.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Basic computer proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily shelter activities to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
• Respond to participant needs and crises; assist with shelter operations and meal service.
• Complete required documentation including shift notes and logs.
• Provide information about shelter services and connect participants to resources.
• Support participants in accessing basic resources and services.
