Job summary

Making Opportunity Count Inc. seeks an Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management to support case management and client services across shelters in MA. The role oversees staff, ensures compliance with EOHLC scope, and coordinates care for families in transition to housing.

The position emphasizes compassionate leadership, crisis response, and collaboration with the Shelter Manager and Director of Shelter Case Management to meet program goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• 5 years’ experience in the human service field.
• 2 years’ experience in the State’s Family Emergency Assistance Shelter Program funded by EOHLC.
• CPR and First Aid training.
• Ability to demonstrate compassion for homeless families.
• Strong communication skills and ability to set limits fairly.
• Creative thinking and calm crisis response.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Experience in shelter, housing, housing stabilization, clinical service, trauma-informed care.
• Experience developing culturally and linguistically diverse programs.

Responsibilities

• Onsite presence for shelter families and assist case managers with goals to achieve placement.
• Track case management efforts to ensure compliance with EOHLC Shelter Scope of Services.
• Enforce shelter rules and ensure resident adherence as needed.
• Assign a case manager to all new families and address immediate needs.
• Maintain accuracy of spreadsheets and reports.
• Log progress of case managers toward rehousing goals.
• Record and communicate transportation usage by residents.
• Respond to crises with back‑up from leadership when needed.
• Provide supervision and accountability for case management staff.
• Attend EOHLC meetings and training as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Shelter Manager/Director.
