Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory in Anaheim is seeking an Ambassador to support homeless residents. Working under the Operations Supervisor, you will help transform lives by ensuring safety, performing light maintenance, assisting with intake and front desk duties, and supporting meal service.

This role requires trauma-informed approach, strong communication, reliability, and basic computer skills to enter data into Salvation Army software. Shifts include weekends; training provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 1 year work
• Minimum 1 year sobriety with consistent attendance in a Support Group
• Experience in mental health, homelessness or addictions fields preferred
• Criminal background checks are required
• MVR check if necessary
• Basic literacy and computer skills
• CPR and First Aid certification must be obtained within 1 month of start date

Responsibilities

• Support residents' well-being using trauma-informed care
• Use conflict resolution and de-escalation with residents
• Assist in serving meals to residents
• Refer residents to Case Managers as needed
• Patrol buildings and grounds for safety
• Notify residents if actions don’t meet facility guidelines
• Perform light housekeeping and maintenance duties
• Handle front desk duties and intake responsibilities
• Enter required data into Salvation Army software
• Maintain cleanliness of restrooms and laundry facilities
• Greet visitors and provide a welcoming environment at the front desk
